One of my favorite bloggers wrote once that whenever she entertained, she made sure to stop everything an hour before her guests arrive to shower, fix her hair, and release the stress of cooking and preparing. It was a lightbulb moment for me, as I was always a hot mess when my guests showed up. Especially when hosting large crowds. Her tip made me realize I needed to start researching entertaining methods and ideas. Yes, I just said that.
So, here are four of my easiest tips for making your party shine. All can be prepped ahead of time to minimize fuss on the day of the event.
1. Get bloom-tiful. Pick up a few bunches of flowers and create a signature centerpiece. Flowers are a luxury and the guests will feel more welcome. Create the arrangement a day or two before the party so blooms have time to open and fill out.
2. Go fabric-friendly. Use fabric napkins rather than paper. They’re easy to make and environmentally friendly. Use vintage sheets (flannel is the most absorbent) or organic cotton.
3. ID your food. Serving a unique menu? Use a printable escort card template (like this oh-so-cute chevron printable) and let guest know what they are consuming.
4. Make an entrance. Welcome guests before you open the door by creating an entrance. You can use just about anything: candles, floral arrangements, garland, lights, and more. Place the objects on stairs, driveways, or patios.
