Outdoor Rooms

{image: FAB Architecture}

Outdoor spaces provide an area to talk, read, think, rest, enjoy nature, and be part of a community. It’s a heady combination, and I can find myself spending hours in areas where I can hear birds and the muted sounds of my neighborhood. Spring is the perfect time to start creating an outdoor space. It’s still too cool to plant, but not cold enough to avoid being outside.

Here are a few inspiring outdoor spaces I’ve recently found.

The above image comes from a gallery on Garden Design of a Danish designer. Don’t you want to curl up on that big wide couch? A co-worker in Nicaragua built similar couches into her courtyard. Both were the size of twin beds, and it was such a relaxing place to curl up and read for a while.

Outdoor spaces don’t have to be expensive. Just arrange your furniture and tables in a way that invites conversation.

What’s your favorite outdoor space?
