Our overall goals have changed since we decided to move to Ireland. First and foremost, we stopped the process of buying a home and planning for a family. Which means I can switch energy and finances into restoring, refinishing, and recovering the furniture we have already instead of putting it off until we’ve purchased a home.

The challenge is in choosing which project to start with. In total, I have ten pieces of furniture that need work. Two chairs that need upholstering.

And multiple pieces of furniture that need painting or staining. This sounds simple, but I’m having a really difficult time picturing what I want each piece to look like. While I like painted furniture, like the vanity I redid, I also like stained furniture.

This vanity and chest are in our bedroom, and I know they’ll need to coordinate or match. Something conservative that won’t go out of style in two years.

These two pieces will skip the conservative and go straight to funky.

As well as these two tables being put to use as end tables for our sofa. In the meantime, I’m looking at Pinterest, Knack Studios, Design Sponge, Decor 8, Dwelling Gawker and more for inspiration. I’m really looking forward to having it all done and having a home that looks more polished and designed, instead of a thrift store.
