I need to make a confession to the blogworld. I have a plywood bedframe. One built by my roommate five years ago for less than $100. It’s not the trendy kind of plywood making the rounds of Dwell. Just the plain vanilla plywood you can find at Home Depot. Granted, it’s solid and functions well. But I’m thinking I need to revamp my bedroom into a more grown up version.

First up, a few bedrooms to narrow my style…

If I was still a single gal, this would be my dream bedroom. Pillowcases made of vintage linens. Lacy throws placed gently across the bed. White shutters and frames mixed with strands of faux pearls. However, my husband is a man, and wants to feel at least a little bit like a man. We’ll save this design for any future teenage girls we have in our house.

This is such a funky, fresh bedroom style. But it says more guest bedroom than my bedroom. Metal bed frames have grown on me, but I’m not ready to purchase one for my bed. I also really like the bright colors, but I’m not loving the circle rug. It’s too small scale.

I love the natural feel of this bedroom, but it’s still a little too rustic. It would make the perfect DIY bedroom for a singleton, but I need something more substantial.

Honestly, I threw this bedroom in for fun. I would never have a hanging bed unless it was at a vacation home, but isn’t the idea so fun? I just went to a party with a hanging sofa and I have to say I fell in love with it.

Ah, finally. Perfection. I love the seamless integration with the outdoors (perfect for Nicaragua!), plentiful natural light, and a mix of natural materials. I can imagine waking up to feel sun on your face, and immediately seeing the beautiful patio and plants.

Come back on Monday for more….
